Atty. Boy Fernandez
Just very recently, President Rogelio Mabanag and General Manager Jose Raul Saniel of Zamsureco I were among the guests of Kapihan 603, a radio program of RMN PAGADIAN (DXPR), which is anchored by broadcast journalist Elmer Maghanoy.

I have been a part of this weekly (Sundays) program for a number of years now in tandem with its designated anchor or host and often times referred to as co-anchor even as I really doubt if the moniker is appropriate.

Whatever, I usually pose about the same number questions the program anchor asks, especially if I find the topic of discussion very interesting and would want to learn more about it. Mabanag, represented the board of Zamsureco I while Saniel, its top management.

I would say it was one of the most fruitful Kapihan 603 episodes since Kasamang Elmer and myself were able to extract nuggets of valuable information about the cooperative, as both bigwigs were just too eager to dish out useful information about Zamsureco I, From what GM Saniel has said, it is quite clear that the cooperative is fast regaining its former classification as one of the top electric cooperatives in the region.

He said management, with the full backing of the board, through the latters well crafted resolutions was able to reduce drastically the cooperatives systems loss. Both President Mabanag and GM Saniel lavishly praised the respective outfit of each mainly for the cooperation one has dutifully extended to the other, which accordingly has translated into what the cooperative has accomplished in such a short period of time since GM Saniel started his watch.

The lesson I got from the two is that to be successful in practically any human enterprise, cooperation among the stakeholders is a must.. But it would seem from what was gathered in the interview, this cooperation is quite wanting among some departments in the local government unit of Pagadian City.

When asked why an electric post still stands at the originally blind corner of Arao Avenue and the road to PADAP compound, GM Saniel said he was not aware the city government made some corrections in that section of the road. When pressed why he does not know about said engineering activity, he belabored to say the cooperative was not informed.

He also said this is the problem with other agencies that implement projects without coordinating with the cooperative only to ask the latters assistance later when confronted with problems about electric power. With this in mind, it may be well to urge government agencies to closely coordinate with each other in the implementation of programs and projects not only in the city of Pagadian but in the entire province of Zamboanga del Sur, if only to fast track development and progress.
