Pagadian City – With the coming of Mr. Jay A. Fernando, Institute Director of the Magsaysay Maritime and Placement Agency ,a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between its mother company, The Magsaysay Shipping Company and the Zamboanga del Sur Maritime Institute of Technology to establish an Assessment and Training Center for HRM and Tourism Graduates of ZSMIT and other institutions based in Pagadian City and Zamboanga del Sur.

     Fernando, in a press conference with the local media said that, this will be the first out of town program of the Magsaysay Maritime and Placement Agency to come up with a scheme to help and promote opportunities to young graduates and workers abroad by not coming to Manila for the purpose of skills training and at the same assured of work aboard ocean liners, to include its own shipping company, the Magsaysay Shipping Company.

     The training will cost a candidate 25, 000 for two months on F&B, Housekeeping, and Front Desk, while 95-T for four months training on Baking and Pastry and Culinary.

     "Medyo mahal po to kasi the candidate will be skillfully trained not by books, lectures alone but hands-on training on the particular jobs if ever they will pass". Fernando said.

     Applicants are interviewed before they can take the admission exam to the institute. The said Assessment and Training Center will also be opened to other schools, however, for the first operation; admitted applicants will be trained first in Manila. Until such time the whole program will be transferred in the ZSMIT compound with all the amenities in the assessment and training.

     Fernando added that, with assurance of working in hotels and other shipping company abroad, applicants who graduates and passed the training can avail internship already and earn 300-500 Euro as incentives and allowances., until they can be in fulltime jobs that will receives salaries ranging from 600-1000 US dollars.

i wanna ask something po....
sir, pano po mag enrol ng HRM sa magsaysay shipping lines po?? and ask ko lang po kung magkano magagastos per year as an HRM student ng magsaysay.. gusto ko po kasi mag-enrol sainyo, and im only 20yo and gusto ko pong mag barko.. i'll wait po for the reply..
