Pagadian City - The Fluvial Parade which started right after the Con-celebrated Mass lead by Bishop Cabajar with a procession from the Sto. Niño Cathedral to the Wharf Area was a huge success! Starting at 4:00am people from all walks of life joined the procession headed by Mayor Samuel S. Co and his First Lady Ilang-ilang Fernandez Co.
A Fluvial Parade around the Yllana Bay particularly at the vicinity of Dao-dao Island and Bibilik then followed by a Procession/Sinulog from the Wharf Area to the Sto. Nino Cathedral lead by the Knights of Columbus and Knights of the Altar.
"If we really are to make our City the Regional Center of government, agri-industry, trade, commerce and services in Western Mindanao with a quality of life that is economically productive, socially responsive and culturally and spiritually developed, then our local government should be made to really work for the people as a dispenser of basic services, and as an engine for economic growth. More important, it is the need or rather the responsibility to ensure that benefits of growth are left by all and seen by all. There should be no argument that our city government together with the religious leaders must lead this momentous event to a resounding success in the context of this year's theme "Kalinaw... Pinaagi sa Pagsinabtanay, Panaghiusa ug Kaangayan sa Katawhan", Mayor Co told reporters.
"We need to promote our city's major events, echievements and developments and some of our scenic tourist spots which we have identified and are now undergoing feasibility study, design and initial construction. It should always be every Pagadianon's concern to promote a culture of tourism, an awareness of the need to put our best foot forward. and to work together to provide our guests, both local and foreign, with a warm welcome and a worthwhile experience," Mayor Co disclosed.
The Pasalamat Festival which commenced on January 11, 2008 culminating on the third Sunday, January 20, 2008, which is the Feast of the Sto.
