The Office of Civil Defense-Department of National Defense Region 9 (OCD-DND 9) enjoins all sectors to participate the celebrations of the National Disaster Consciousness Month.

Regional Director Andriano D. Fuego of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council Region 9 (RDCC-9) identified some municipalities in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur as “Hazard Prone Municipalities and City” to let the people in the area to be aware on the disaster preparedness be it natural or man-made.Hazard Prone Municipalities The Hazard Prone Municipalities and City were classified into five calamities. Eleven were identified as prone for Flashflood, these are the municipalities of Dumingag, Mahayag, Molave,Tambulig, Sominot, Ramon Magsaysay, Aurora, Labangan, Tukuran, Bayog and Kumalaranga; Eight for Armed Conflict, Josefina, San Pablo, San Miguel, Dinas, Dimataling, Pitogo, V. Sagun, and Lapuyan; Seven for Tsunami, Pagadian City, Tukuran, San Pablo, Dimataling, Tabina. Pitogo and, Margosatubig; for Landslide nine, Josefina, Dumingag, Midsalip, Ramon Magsaysay, Aurora , Bayog, Lakewood, Tigbao, and Kumalarang and five for Fire prone, Pagadian City, Dumalinao, Guipos, Molave and Labangan. Meanwhile the officials were already informed on the statues of their respective municipalities so that the local disaster coordinating council and peace and order council will be aware on the disaster preparedness to be done in case this will happen, Regional Director Fuego said.{sidebar id=9} Pursuant to Executive 137 signed by then President Joseph Estrada, is a month-long celebration to let the Filipino people to be aware on disaster.
