With this years theme: "Leading the Way to A World Without Aids", the local governments of Zamboanga del Sur and Pagadian City implements and joins the celebration through DILG Memorandum Circular 2007-31 to encourage the community especially to those who work in the commercial establishments in the advocacy against the most dangerous disease of mankind, The HIV Virus or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).
The celebration jumped off with a motorcade at 8:00am around the city and ended with a forum at Café Ilang-ilang. The program and forum was attended by employees of commercial establishments like restaurants, video-ke bars, and other business establishments of the city. {sidebar id=8}The celebration is a joint effort of the Provincial and City Government in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) thru Mr. Dave Barrot, LGOO III and City Health Officer Noel E. Ceniza, M.D and other staff. Participants in the said forum are Prostitutes, Commercial Sex Workers, GRO (guest relation officer) and the MSM (men having sex with men) and other night club entertainment. They are taught of R.A. 8504, the Nation’s Aid Prevention and Control Act of 1998. Sexual transmission, blood transfusion, Mother-Child and Organ donation are the four (4) medical proven way of transmitting the disease. With the forum, DILG and the City Health personnel’s however, give the participants a dose of how to prevent HIV-AIDS this are the A.B.C.D.E. way which means A- Abstinence, B- Be Mutually Faithful, C- Correct and Consistent use of condoms, D- Don’t use drugs and E- Exercise Universal pre-cautions at all time.
