Do you want change? As we live in today's world, people do need change to impart life as precious as it is. But how to go about it?
APYC a Project of the Initiative of Change As what the 13th Asia-Pacific Youth Conference themed this year, "Change Begins With Me: Who I Am Today Will Make A Difference Tomorrow", youths all over the Asia-Pacific Region will convene in this part of Western Mindanao for 7 nights and 8 days to share opportunities and exchange ideas with those from neighboring countries, build friendships and create networks for peace. The 13th Asia-Pacific Youth Conference (APYC) is a project of the Initiatives of Change (IofC). It aims to help participants become change-agents of the future by equipping them with the means to manage obstacles that confront their morality. The conference promotes the use of "quiet time" to allow one to learn from his life experiences and think clearly for the future. It gives one time to analyze his attitudes and actions according to one's value-system.
Delegates will be encouraged to live by four absolute values: absolute purity, absolute honesty, absolute unselfishness and absolute love. These four values are the absolute tools for discernment and direction, and form the foundation of trust upon which the various initiatives of change are built. APYC A Program of Moral Re-Armament The APYC began as a program of Moral Re-Armament (MRA). It was first known as the Oxford Group, arising from its work among university students in the late 1920s. In 1938, as European nations re-armed militarily, its originator, Frank Buchman, called for "moral and spiritual re-armament" as the way to build a "hate-free, fear-free, greed-free world". In 2001, MRA became known as Initiatives of Change. It is comprised of people of many cultures, nations, beliefs and backgrounds. It is committed to build trust across the world's divides and to transform society through changes in individuals and relationships, starting with one's own life. Pagadian Preparing for the APYC Event As the host city, Pagadian City is now preparing for the event to takes place. Co-sponsored by the city government, Mayor Samuel S. Co said that in this undertaking, not only the youth of Pagadian and Zamboanga del Sur will be able to make friends from the other Asia-Pacific nations but also the youth from Western Mindanao.
He said in the vernacular. Mayor Co, as the re-elected mayor of this city is prioritizing the tourism industry of the city to prosper and develop into a tourism destination. Hosting the 13th APYC and the upcoming "WOW Philippines Regional Showcase, Biyahe na ZamboSur" this coming September along with the celebration of the 55th Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur dubbed as Megayon Festival 2007 is one way of promoting the local tourism industry. {sidebar id=9} The 13th Asia-Pacific Youth Conference will convene in Pagadian City on July 20 to 28 this year.
