Moro Women in Pagadian learns herbal medicine
After a three-day training on Herbal Medicines, the womens sector of the Ummah Fi Salam learned the craft of producing cheaper medicines using herbal plants.

The training was held at the Liga City, Pagadian City, on August 21-23 conducted by the Community Action For Rural Development (CARD) an NGO based in Davao and was sponsored by the Socio-Pastoral Institute-Manila.

The said training was aimed at developing the women in the communities handled by the Ummah Fi Salam as they are part of the Peace Building Process, says UFS Executive Director Sultan Maguid Maruhom.

Accordingly, women play a vital role in attaining a developed community as health is the primary concern of women.

18 women from the three communities-Leon Kilat, Santiago and Darusalam joined the three-day training.

Included in the training were the herbal medicine production, identification of the common health problems in the community like malnutrition and environmental sanitation and the ways on how to treat them, acupuncture and acupressure, etc.

Moreover, an actual demonstration was conducted where participants were able to produce herbal capsules, cough syrups, oil, and others.

Sultan Maguid expressed his gratitude at the end of the training to the staff of the CARD-Davao and the SPI-Manila for giving the opportunity to the Moro women to learn these skills.
