Pagadian City – A Grade VI pupil, Irene B. Patcho of Banale Elementary School West District was declared champion during the Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines (STEP) Skills Regional Competition held on November 5-6, 2007 at Don Pablo Memorial High School, Sta. Maria District, Zamboanga City.

Irene is under the advisory of Mrs Sarah B. Delegero, teacher trainor and Coach Mr. Pableo F. Dela Cruz. She is one of the six contestants coming from the different Dep-Ed Divisions in Region 9 who successfully grabbed the regional grand championship award in the Tie Dye Category. “The STEP Skills Competition is an ongoing program of our President GMA to all Elementary and Secondary Levels and there are ten categories in the Elementary Level, these are Bangkito Making, Marcotting, Extension cord making, Tie dye, Flower arrangement, Fruit cocktail, Book binding, Dust pan making, Patching and Sales inventory.” Mr Maximo S.
