Ramil Bangues who earned the radio moniker "AMID" over RMN-DXPR has been elected as the new President of the TABAK Defense Press Corps in an election held over the weekend at Hotel Camila.

Amid, the present Program Director of DXPR and a top rated anchor, has been voted unanimously.

Amid believes that he can unify the TABAK Press Corps members towards easy access of information from the officials of the 1st Infantry "TABAK" Division, Philippine Army.

"We re-organized this long sleeping press organization to make it sure that all information coming from the Army's premiere division (TABAK) be spread out to the people since they have the right to information", Bangues said in a message delivered after the election.

Bangues also stressed that the Tabak Press Corps is not an extended Media relations offices of the Philippine Army, but an independent Media group that seeks truthfulness and an ally of the military in all peace advocacy.

"We are here not to defend TABAK should there be wrong doings or abuses committed, but to serve as an agent of change towards peace and fairness upholding the ultimate goal of mass media as watchdog of democracy".

Lt. Colonel George Avila, Chief of Staff for G7 also said that the TABAK Press Corps is an independent media organization having ties with the Philippine Army for fast and accurate dissemination of information.

"This press corps retains its independence and the Philippine Army is willing to assist in any peace advocacy", Avila added.
