LOM President Ace William E. Cerilles leads other 2008 officials of the Greater Pagadian Jaycees with his lady Sweet in taking their oath of office. The Greater Pagadian Jaycess (GPJ) celebrated its Silver Anniversary with the national president as the honored guest held at Hotel Alindahaw last January 24.
Governor Auring E. Cerilles graced the affair and as host Governor, she welcomed the guests and visitors coming from the different local organization members across Mindanao. The lady Governor, in her message, regarded the Greater Pagadian Jaycees as a special organization of young leaders and businessmen in Pagadian who voluntarily serve the community in their little but significant way for the betterment and positive change of the Pagadian City and Zamboanga del Sur, in general. Apt for the occasion, the 2008 Greater Pagadian Jaycees officials were inducted into office by Jaycees National President Albert Raphael Angelo Lesaca. The Greater Pagadian Jaycees is now being headed by Local Organization Members (LOM) President Ace William E. Cerilles, municipal mayor of Dumalinao town and only son of 2nd District Congressman Tony and Governor Auring E. Cerilles. Guv Auring congratulates the Greater Pagadian Jaycees for their Silver years.Likewise, welcomes the dignitaries (attentively listen to her), guests, for gracing the event. Likewise, the 21 pioneer members of GPJ were given recognition for their invaluable contribution for the success of their organization, namely: JCI Senator Antonio H. Cerilles as the founding leader; JCI Senator Roque M. Yamba, JCI Member Vic Baul, JCI Member William Yu, JCI Member Mario Cerilles, JCI Member Maximo N. Cascara, JCI Senator Emmanuel A. Barretto, JCI Senator Alexander S. Co, Sr., JCI Member Carlos R. Madarang, JCI Senator Jose A. Bayawa, JCI Member Arturo P. Sissay, JCI Member Samson Lim, JCI Member Eleazar Mantos, JCI Senator Julian Novida, Jr. and JCI Member Floricel Doques. The occasion was witnessed by the JCI Senators and members from different local organizations across Mindanao, as far as Surigao, Davao, Basilan, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Basilan, Ozamis, and Ipil.
Congressman Cerilles’ influence to the Greater Pagadian Jaycees (GPJ) has never faltered. In fact, he was instrumental in the mass induction of the so-called “Baby Jaycees” mostly are Zamboanga del Sur municipal elected officials from Mayors, Vice Mayors and Sangguniang Bayan Members which recorded a milestone of the local organization during their Silver Anniversary. Twenty five years ago, Congressman Cerilles introduced the Junior Chamber International Philippines or better known as Philippine Jaycees, Inc. to his contemporaries in Pagadian City who were young leaders and vibrant businessmen. The 21 pioneers named their chapter as Greater Pagadian Jaycees which was formally organized on January 24, 1983. At 33, Congressman Cerilles, was already the Regional Assemblyman of the Autonomous Government in Region IX. The congressman recalled that it was the wake of his mother Josefina when the World President of JCI Chichos Luciano asked him to be active again with the Jaycees. JCI National President Raphael Angelo Lecasa, GPJ Past President Lauro Mendoza, National Executive Vice President Ramy Nemara. Like any JCI local organization members, the GPJ abide with the international mission that is to contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, social responsibility and fellowship necessary to create positive change. One classic example of a successful CPJ member is 1st District Congressman Victor Yu, who happens to be a contractor turned to be a politician. The silver anniversary celebration was a grand event for the Greater Pagadian Jaycees’ sort of a dry run for their hosting a more grandeous event slated this September dubbed as JCI Area Conference comprising LOM in Mindanao.
