Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur – A 31 year-old man was hacked and shot to death by two persons on August 6, 2007 at about 9:00 o’clock in the morning at Purok 7, Barangay Poblacion.
Responding policemen lead by SP04 Lily Palmero identified the victim as Manong Macacuna, married and a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Mahayag, Dimataling, who sustained four hack wounds and 1 gunshot wound at his head that caused his untimely death.
The two suspects were identified as Adtud Dres, 20 years old, and a certain Tong who fled after the incident, both suspects where neighbors of the victim.
Police said that the victim was on his way home when waylaid by the suspects and killed using a sharp bolo (machete) and a caliber .45 pistol. One empty shell of caliber .45 was recovered from a crime scene.
Police are now conducting a manhunt against the assailants. The authorities initial findings believe that the possible motive of the incident is a love triangle.
