Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur – A certain Ambrosio Ortega y Opay 42 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Purok-3 Barangay Mabini, Ramon Magsaysay, sustained two hack wounds at his right thigh and left arm survived after he was brought to Aurora General Hospital. Police reports reaching the Police Provincial Office said that the suspect identified as Sidro Labitad y Ocolan, 20 years old, farmer and a resident of Purok-5, Barangay Magsaysay of the said municipality, hacked the victim using a scythe and fled after the incident.
RM Police elements responding to the crime scene lead by COP Inspector Pablo Pahinting Jr., disclosed that the suspect and the victim together with two other companions identified as Edito Carduza and Cerelo Lalim were having a drinking spree at the store of Barangay Chairman Mario Diaz of Barangay Magsaysay. After their drinking spree, all of them went home and together reaching the house of Edito Cardoza who remained in his house and gave a torch to Cerelo Lalim so that they will have light on their way. At this juncture the suspect Sidro Labitad suddenly disappeared. The victim Ambrosio Ortega and Cerelo Lalim continued on their way home when suddenly they were way laid by the suspect and attacked them with a scythe. Ambrosio was hit but Cerelo was able to strike the torch towards the suspect hitting his face. Cerelo was chased by the suspect but he was able to evade unharmed and reported the incident to the police. Sidro is now the subject of police manhunt operations.
