Dumingag, Zamboanbga del Sur – A certain Fortunato Capadlange Tanag alias “Nato”, 30 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Purok-5, Barangay Mahayahay, Dumingag died on the spot after he sustained multiple gunshot wounds at different parts of his body. He was shot by two unidentified assailants at 1:30 pm, September 4, 2007.
The police disclosed that while the victim was busy working as laborer of a Rice Thresher at the boundary of Barangay upper Timonan and Barangay New Bantaaw all of the said municipality, two unidentified armed men wearing bonnets accosted him and with out provocation shot him several times causing his untimely death. The two suspects fled after the incident towards the town proper onboard a single motorcycle as their getaway vehicle. The police conducted immediately a hot pursuit operation against the suspects but failed to find the culprits. The victim was reportedly involved with illegal activities at Barangay Mahayag, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur last October 13, 2006 and has a pending case at the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Pagadian City under IS number 06395. The motive of the shooting is believed to be a personal grudge. Police elements lead by SP02 Arthur Lekayan Alade under the supervision of Chief of Police Inspector Cyrus Corsame Belarmino responded and conducted the initial investigation.
