Mayor Samuel S. Co expressed his sincere appreciation to the Interfaith Convenors Monsignor Emannuel Cabajar for the invitation extended to him during the Launching Program of the Government and Civil Society Dialogue.
“It’s my pleasure to be invited by no less than the Interfaith Forum for Solidarity and Peace, Diocese of Pagadian City. I believed that this launching is very timely and significant. This serves to emphasize the crucial role of each sector of society in maintaining peace and order in our community. This will not only promote community safety but it will also contribute to our sustainable development in this city,” Mayor Sammy Co said during his speech following the celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace recently held at the Camila Hotel on December 4, 2007 here. The mayor was extremely pleased and honored to be in the company of people and organizations that share a mutual advocacy for peace and development and acknowledge all the active partners in promoting peace and socio-economic development in the island-region, particularly in the city of Pagadian. “We are very much appreciative of each of your crucial and all-important role in promoting and maintaining of our Peace and Order in our city. At no other time is our collective will and dedication as relevant as it is in these times, specially now when there’s treat to our national government,” Mayor Co added.
The City administration headed by City Mayor Co is committed to seeking peace and order development in Mindanao. “However, as we all know, the government cannot do it alone. Hence, those of us in the private sector, non-government organizations and civic organizations have willingly assumed an inherent obligation to rally and fully support of any peacekeeping and developmental efforts and are prepared to draw deep from its own resources when necessary,” Mayor Co explained.
“We hope that peace agreement between Government and the MILF will be successful. Hence, with all these, the city government of Pagadian wishes to congratulate all of you and signifies its utmost support for this worthwhile endeavor. We hope that this affair will boost our efforts to promote Mindanao as an economically, politically and socially harmonious island-region. Please keep up the good helping hand. I wish this convergence a huge success. Thanks you very much and a blessed day to everyone,” City Mayor Co disclosed.
