President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo arrived  here amid cheers of local residents in a festive mood, in time for the 55th founding anniversary of the province of Zamboanga del Sur.

PGMA Met by Provincial Dignitaries 

Governor Aurora Enerio Cerilles, Congressman Antonio H. Cerilles, Congressman Victor J. Yu, Mayor Samuel S. Co led the reception party with West MinCom Commander MGen. Nelson Allaga, PNP Regional Director Jaime G. Caringal, Ferdie Mahusay – PA for Western Mindanao, heads of national government agencies and other local officials.

The Presidential Party include  DA Secretary Arthur Yap, OPAPP Secretary and Mindanao Super Region Champion Jesus G. Dureza, Maryse Gautier – World Bank Country Director and other dignitaries.

PGMA Ribbon Cutting of Agro-Tourism and Heritage Complex 

PGMA led the ribbon-cutting and inauguration of the Agro-Tourism and Heritage Complex  and unveiled the Megayon Monument at Barangay Dao, which also marked the official declaration of the opening of Biyahe Na sa ZamboSur! Wow ZamPen and Megayon Festival as the president banged the ceremonial gong.

The president  made the turn-over of the P20 million rehabilitation of Bobuan-Sigacad, Bayog farm-to-market roads under the Mindanao Rural Improvement Project (MRDP) through  DA, the P12.505 million Balongating-Goling farm-to-market road project and the P25.291 million Communal Irrigation system of Balongating and Canunan, Guipos.  

{sidebar id=9} Aside from the MRDP projects in Guipos and Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur, the president also mentioned 3 on-going farm-to-market road projects in Dumalinao and Pagadian City funded at P55 million (20% completed), Tukuran – P47 million,  P5 million allocated for Dumingag, Sominot, San Pablo, Midsalip and Pitogo, and another P30 million for Bayog, Kumalarang, Margosatubig, Tigbao and V. Sagun.

She also turned – over a check worth P2.27 million for the completion of the Kagawasan-Tabina road.

 

DA-DAR-DENR Benefits from 30% of Program Funds 

The president, true to her promise during her last State-of-the-Nation Address,  said 30 percent of all program funds of DA, DAR and DENR will be allocated for Mindanao and she is making good of her promise.

President Arroyo assured Zambosurians that infrastructure projects, social services and other benefits will trickle down to the grassroots especially in the Mindanao area until every Filipino feels the economic payback of the government.
