Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur - One Jundie Dabal Pamaybay, 21 years old, single, a detention prisoner of Guipos Municipal Police station, has managed to escape while his handcuff was being taken off by PO3 Demosthenes Andale. He was about to be detained in the lock-up cell when he attempted his escape.

Pamaybay is facing a criminal case for violation of Section 2 Paragraph A of R.A. 6539, otherwise known as the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972. PO3 Andale pursued and was able to rearrest the suspect. The incident happened on November 12, 2007 at 1:05 pm.

Reports reaching the Police Provincial Office said that Pamaybay was brought to the Provincial Prosecutors Office, Pagadian City, at about 10:00 in the morning by Police elements headed by SP02 Luis F. Arquiza, under the supervision of Police Inspector David Ehedio, OIC, for Inquest Case Proceeding. On escaping, Pamaybay ran towards the National Highway of barangay Poblacion Guipos then crossed towards the hinterlands and downwards to the bushy portion of Guipos National High School where he hid among the bushes.

Pursuing policemen led by SP02 Luis F. Arquiza was not able to find him until he showed up 30 minutes later at the spot where PO3 Andale was posted. The suspect attacked Andale and tried to grab the service pistol. Andale fired a warning shot but Pamaybay tried to attack again. Andale evaded this and fired a single shot which hit Pamaybay in his right foot ankle even at a distance of 5 meters away.

Pamaybay was brought by the pursuing policemen to the Municipal Health Center for Medical Treatment. After the attending medical staff declared him in stable condition and out of danger he was brought back to his lock-up cell.

It can be recalled that Jundie was successfully arrested near Camp Sabido, Guipos, on November 11, 2007 at 8:50 am after  a certain Artemio Larangco filed a complaint that on November 6, 2007 at 2:00 pm Pamaybay carnapped his Single Motorcycle Honda XRM while parked inside the compound of the 53rd IB, Philippine Army Camp Sabido.

The said Honda vehicle was recovered from the possession of the suspect's younger brother while being vulcanized at Barangay Paglaum, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.
