Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur – Approximately 491-board feet of lumber of Gemelina and Lawaan species was intercepted by the Police operatives of Midsalip Police Station while on foot patrol during the conduct of Bantay Kalikasan Operations headed by the COP Police Senior Inspector George Andam at Barangay Poblacion on October 17, 2007 at 9:00 o’clock in the evening
A certain Stewart Padayhag, owner of the lumber and a resident of the said municipality was arrested after failure to present to the police authorities the permit and legal documents for transporting of lumber.
The confiscated lumber are now temporarily impounded at the Midsalip Police Station while a case for illegal logging was prepared against the suspect.
