Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur – Two were killed in separate shooting incidents, police report reaching the Police Provincial Office from Mahayag Municipal Police Station stated.

A victim identified as Carlito Arat Sino, 45 years old, farm laborer and a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Kaangayan was shot three times by a suspect later identified as Ariel Tupas aka Aye on October 7, 2007 at about 7:30 pm

Police operatives lead by COP SP04 Justino Delotendos together with SP02 Eulogio Muneza officer on case responded immediately to the crime scene after receiving reports thru a cellular phone call that there was a shooting incident.

Police Investigation disclosed that while Carlito together with his wife, who was away to buy cigarettes, was standing along the National Highway waiting for a passenger vehicle bound for Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, the suspect appeared  and without any provocation shot the victim hitting Carlito in the forehead three times using an undetermined caliber of firearm.

Ariel fled on board a waiting vehicle single motorcycle in tandem, to the direction of Poblacion Dumingag. The victim died on the spot.

Another victim identified as David Orasyon Leopoldo, 30 years old, married, driver by profession and a resident of Purok-5, Barangay Sta. Cruz, Mahayag was shot by three unidentified persons at Purok-2, Barangay Salug Daku, Mahayag on October4 8, 2007 at 9:00 in the morning.

David sustained two gunshots wounds at the left side of his head and left abdomen. Police reports said that the victim was driving his single motorized cargo Habal-habal with two passengers heading to Barangay Poblacion, Mahayag. Upon reaching Purok-2, Lower Salug Daku, he was flagged down by the three suspects. When the victim stopped, one of the suspects approached the victim and ostensibly  to borrow an open-wrench tool while the other suspect approached passing behind the victim at close range distance and shot once at his left head while the other suspect shot his left abdomen.

The three unidentified assailants fled riding in tandem a waiting vehicle, a single motorcycle color red going towards a southeast direction. Both cases were under follow-up investigation by the police authorities.
