As the officialdom of Pagadian busies accommodating the regional offices here, the provincial government matches its effort by providing facilities and infrastructures necessary for a growing social and economic development of the province.
The state-of-the-art Medical Center is due to be opened by the second quarter of this year located at the Provincial Government Center in Dao while the Regional Hospital is also found in the Second District of the province particularly at Margosatubig.
Moreover, 2nd District Congressman Antonio H. Cerilles also plans to place a Regional Drug Rehabilitation Center in Camp Rebi, San Pablo, also in his district. Likewise, he is pushing now the conversion of provincial roads into national roads that would eventually link Zamboanga del Norte to this province via Sindangan and Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur. Last January 22, Cerilles called the elected officials of Bayog, Kumalarang, Lapuyan and San Pablo municipalities together with the Provincial Planning and Development Officer, Provincial Engineer and DPWH District Engineer of the 3rd Engineering District to tackle on the proposed road conversion. Cerilles of Dumalinao joined Mayors Belman Mantos (San Pablo), Mary Ann Cartalla (Bayog), Daylinda Sulong (Lapuyan) and Allan Damas (Kumalarang) during the meeting.“You always remember that we are building the road not for today but for tomorrow,” the Congressman told them as he helped them grasp the great opportunities it may give to your respective towns once this project is realized. Cerilles said by the time Sindangan and Bayog road is opened, fish supply will be sufficient in Pagadian since Sindangan is noted to be the main supplier of fish in Zamboanga del Sur and the neighboring provinces of Region 9. Much to the intention of Governor Auring E. Cerilles to concretely pave all the 430.96 kilometer provincial roads, but due to financial constraints she can’t simply do it. With the help of her husband Congressman, they were able to convert the Lakewood provincial road into a secondary national road. How they did it? Congressman Cerilles said he first established national schools here, secondly, he developed the lake into a resort. Nevertheless, her administration already concreted over 100 kilometer provincial roads accumulated from Dinas, Dimataling and Lapuyan in District II and Sominot-Midsalip road in District I. During the meeting, the Congressman grouped the Sangguniang Bayan members present according to committee chairmanship, such as: appropriation, infrastructure, agriculture, trade and commerce, peace and order, good government and ABC presidents “In our leadership, everybody is involved. The problem of peace and order is non-partisan that is why we call you to help,” he pointed out.  Billboard proclaiming the Zambosur Medical Center He wanted to get the commitments from each group to expedite data gathering necessary to justify why the provincial and municipal roads have to be made a national road.So long that these roads become national road its maintenance will be handled by the national government, he said while enumerating numerous benefits gained from it, like travel time from one Zamboanga del Norte to the regional center will be less; encourage farmers to increase their production, there will be an increase in IRA since valuation of real estate along the national road would be higher. “Please study all the aspects so that when we present our proposal to the Regional Development Council it would be for us to justify it,” the project-oriented Congressman said.
