AT LEAST 2 persons were killed in a separate shooting incident which occurred in the towns of Tabina and San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur over the weekend.
The first incident was in Capisan, Tabina, Zamboanga del Sur where a certain Rolando Tecson, 25, a resident of the same place was shot and hacked to death by two suspects. Police record shows the two suspects Josue Tabo, 27, and Marjun Nacua, 20, both residents at Poblacion Tabina were both engaged into a heated argument with Tecson that resulted into a bloody incident. Nacua, who was armed with a caliber .45 pistol shot the victim while his companion Tabo hacked also the victim several times. Tecson suffered 20 hacked wounds and was killed on the spot, according to bystanders who witnessed the brutal killing. After the incident, the 2 suspects voluntarily surrendered to the chief of police of Tabina and murder charges have been filed against them. Meanwhile, another shooting incident transpired in Purok Lapu-Lapu, Poblacion, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur where the victim was identified as one Felix Dumasig, 31, a resident of Barangay Biray, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur. Police record shows that while Dumasig was buying something in a nearby store an unidentified person suddenly shot the victim by using a firearm of undetermined caliber. After the killing, the suspect fled to an unknown direction. As of press time, the San Miguel PNP is still conducting an investigation to determine the identity of the triggerman and the motive of the killing. Despite the series of killings, Police Senior Superintendent Ramon Ochotorena said the incidents do not affect the normal peace and order situation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur.
