Lakewood, Kumalarang and Bayog, all of the Second District of this province want to be a part of the Zamsureco-I instead of Zamsureco II for obvious reason that these municipalities belong to Zamboanga del Sur but covered by Zamsureco-II.
After obtaining support from the Provincial Development Council (PDC) through PDC Resolution No. 14-2007 stating their intention to transfer jurisdiction from Zamsureco-II to Zamsureco-I, it was PDC’s turn to endorse its Resolution to this effect for legislative action. SP’s Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation and Communication chaired by Board Member Basilio Vidad has recommended that PDC Resolution shall be endorsed to the National Electrification Administration (NEA).
The members of the Provincial Board unanimously approved Resolution No. No. 2K7-083 supporting PDC Resolution favorably acting the request of the three municipalities. Accordingly, the 3 LGUs anchored their intention to transfer to Zamsureco-I from Zamsureco-II for a total energization of their respective remote barangays. Local officials in Lakewood, Bayog and Kumalarang acknowledged the fact that both electric {sidebar id=9}cooperatives give the same services to the consuming public. However, Zamsureco-II is based in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, which obviously difficult for them to ask for subsidy for electrification to remote and far-flung barangays. Last update : 25-09-2007 11:56
