ELEMENTS of the 905th Police Mobile Group have arrested seven persons for possessing high powered firearms in a raid conducted over the weekend at the coastal area of Barangay Bomba, Pagadian City.
Police Senior Inspector Oscar Buenaobra, group director of the 905th PMG identified the arrested persons as Ugoy Pua, 42, fisherman, Inggot Pasawalan, Faisal Pasawalan and Minudin, all of Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur; Musa Tahir, Riham Acobo, 20, both of Tawagan; and Kharia Bandara of Tiniguwangan, Dimataling town. Buenaobra said that the assorted firearms were confiscated in their possession when his troops responded to a tip that two motorized bancas were spotted in the shoreline of Barangay Bomba. The said firearms included a carbine rifle and 2 magazines, a .38 home-made revolver with 5 live ammunitions, a Miami 9mm lugger with 3 ammunitions and a magazine, 41 pieces of live ammunitions and two motorized pump boats now being deposited at the office of the PNP maritime, Buenaobra added. The apprehending team considered the said firearms as high powered and commonly used by pirates in the coastal areas of the Yllana bay and Dumanguillas bay. Police senior inspector Michael Palermo, deputy group director of the 905th PMG said the successful arrest was an off-shoot of the government’s all out war against piracy and extortionist even as he added that they are checking on the background of the suspects and their identifies for suspicion that they have links with Moro bandits operating in the territorial water of Zamboanga del Sur. We are double checking their record, kasi duda kami sa personality nila at bakit may ganung baril sila”, Palermo said even as he said that charges of illegal possession of firearms against the 7 suspects have been filed before the prosecution office. He also urged the residents especially in the coastal areas to report immediately any presence of dubious personalities in their respective barangays. Kailangan namin ang suporta sa mga residente kasi sila yung makakita mismo sa mga tao dyan na medyo “unusual” yung mga kilos at dapat i-report agad sa mga police”, Palermo pointed out.
