Dimataling Local Government Unit and the Provincial Governor’s Office emerged as Champions for the LGU Booth Décor Contest and Giant Lantern Show competitions, respectively, of the concluded ZamboSur Christmas Festival 2007 which ran from December 10 until January 6.
Dimataling bested among her 25 fellow municipalities and Pagadian City based on the following criteria: 1) Aesthetics (40%); 2) Creativity, Originality & craftsmanship (30%) and 3) Harmony of décor with existing structure (30%). Governor Auring E. Cerilles personally handed over the P30-T cash prize plus trophy to Dimataling Mayor Haniel Baya as Grand Prize last Sunday (Jan. 6) during the culmination program at the Agri-tourism and Heritage Complex stage. Second Prize winner was Dinas town with P25-T cash plus trophy at the same time won the Most Artistic Award with P10-T cash plus trophy. Dinas Mayor Wilfredo Asoy, Sr. victoriously received the two separate awards showcasing a giant gold fish accentuated with Christmas lights. Lapuyan Mayor Daylinda Sulong got the Third prize with P20-T plus trophy. Margosatubig Mayor George Minor’s booth was adjudged as the Most Creative with a cash prize of P10-T and trophy. Remarkably, the three major prize winners were the same LGUs that won the top awards in last September’s Biyahe Na! sa Zambosur booth competition. Dinas bagged the First Prize with P50-T cash plus trophy; Dimataling was Second with P30-T cash plus trophy and Lapuyan was Third with P20-T plus trophy. The rest of the LGUs received P5,000 each as consolation prize for their participation contributing to the success of the province’s Christmas celebration. Meanwhile Other winners for the Giant Lantern Show Contest was the Provincial Agriculture Office headed by Marilyn IS Bersales.
