With just a few clicks, job seekers can now find available jobs from all over the country and abroad through the use of the GMA (Greater Modular Access) Jobs Center Kiosk which is now installed at the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) at the City Hall, Pagadian City.
Inaugurated only last May 1, 2007 at the city hall compound, this city, the GMA Jobs Center is a result of the initiative of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to be able to deliver job vacancy information through the use of free, more accessible, accurate and on-demand information on available jobs nationwide and worldwide, as well as other job-related information.According to Virginia Bonbon, Provincial Officer of Department of Labor and Employment, the GMA Jobs Center Kiosk is a touch-screen machine designed for easy access for the job seekers in the city and province who can not the use the internet and the short-messaging system in finding jobs through the PhilJobNet, the official government job site in the web. Moreover, Bonbon added that there are only two (2) machines installed in the region out of 100 kiosks nationwide. The other one is installed in Zamboanga City. Mr. Joseph Quipot, PESO Manager in Pagadian, further added that the kiosk was installed in the city as sort of reward for City Mayor Sammy Co for having been chosen as the best chief executive for the year 2007 by the DOLE for his initiatives in addressing unemployment in the city. Specifically, through the GMA Jobs Center, the job seeker can search for job vacancies, register and post his skills, do job matching and check posted skills. Also available in the kiosk are information on job vacancies posted in the PhilJobNet both local and abroad, list of licensed recruitment agencies for local and overseas employment. For the employers, lists of jobseekers with different skills and TESDA certified workers can also be availed. Last update : 18-05-2008 20:33
