People within the vicinity who are mostly students scampered for safety when a series of gun fire
were heard along the National Highway in front of the Medina College in Barangay Tuburan at about 10:00 morning, Friday, the 13th of July.
Police
reports said, the victim was identified as Edilberto Istoya, 45 years old who sustained multiple gun shot
wounds at the different parts of his body that caused his untimely death.
The
victim is a resident of Barangay Tadlao, Dumalinao; Zamboanga Del Sur. Witnesses
who wants anonymity reported that the victim while walking was trailed by
two male suspects riding in a motorcycle. Suddenly the assailant who is riding as backride of the motorcycle started firing at the victim.
Police
found eight empty shells from the said caliber and was recovered in the crime scene. The suspects fled toward the city proper while the police authorities
immediately conducted a manhunt operation for the suspect.
In
the initial investigation, police believed that the personal grudge motivated the killing.
