{sidebar id=8}Mr. Dodong Duterte, head of a local transport group in Pagadian City had made it clear to the people that they are not seeking a fare hike this year.
Duterte in an interview said that the P7.00 minimum fair in the city proper of Pagadian is still justifiable since it has been approved a few years back.
"Maybe in the coming years we will consider seeking an increase of fair especially that the drivers and operators are clamorin for the sky racketing price of gasoline", Duterte said in an interview.
He said their group has agreed to the request of city Councilor Glavys Gavenia, chair of the transport committee to stick to the present minimum fair to be equal from the riding public who suffer the same burden due to the domino effect of the oil price increase.
However, Duterte challenge Gavenia to take a strong stand in addressing the colorum habal-habal (a single motorcycle transformed to carry up to 15 passengers without a passenger cab) competing to legitimate tricycles in the city of Pagadian. Duterte said the city of Pagadian should come up with a win win solution in resolving the problem of habal-habal. He suggested to identify specific place where habal-habal can ferry passenger.
