Pagadian City – Some 43 caregiving students of Philippine Paramedical and Technical School (PPTS), Pagadian Campus culminated their 6 months rigorous study program on June 1 at Springland Resort & Restaurant with this year’s theme : “Empowerment thru innovation”, where most of the graduates are scholars of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s Training for Work Scholarship Project (PGMA-TWSP).
The PGMA-TWSP is the government’s answer to the country’s unemployment problems facilitated by the Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA). TESDA’s Administrative Officer Ma. Fronie Dalid who ably represented Provincial Director Eulalio B. Lumactod , in her message said, she encouraged the graduates to apply the attitude, skills and knowledge that they have learned during their 6 months study at PPTS for them to be effective health care providers when they intend to work abroad. Helen Arao, OIC-Chief Nurse of Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Hospital motivated the graduates to continue learning since they are empowered by the institution to deliver effective health care. “Never stop learning; keep on reading for you to be globally competitive”, Arao enthused. She further encouraged the graduates to be updated with the latest medical equipments so that they can easily compete with the rest of the caregivers worldwide. Joel Javier, the School Administrator was very much pleased of the commitment and dedication of the graduates that they have shown during their study at the said school. George Hermoso, PGMA’s scholar and a passer of TESDA’s Assessment Test, thanked President Arroyo for giving him the opportunity to avail of the scholarship program where he obtained certain qualifications necessary for him to use when applying for a job abroad. “With the intensive 6 months of study , I have learned the practical aspects of health care for the infant and elderly and during this period, I have deepened my understanding of the caregiving lessons,” Hermoso said. “My hands-on experience and exposure in the hospital will certainly help me to be exposed to career choices of either institutional or individual home health care abroad,” Hermoso added. Zenith Maculob, a scholar also thanked the President for giving her the opportunity to avail of the scholarship program. “With the knowledge that I gained, I look forward to work abroad so that I can help uplift the economic condition of my family,” Maculob said.
