A FORMER MEMBER of the CPP-NPA was killed in a grenade explosion in Barangay Luanan, Lapuyan town, this province over the weekend.
This was gathered from the Lapuyan PNP as it identified the victim as one Lumambo Damo, alias Ka Jerry, 30, a former member of the CPP-NPA operating in the 2nd District of Zamboanga del Sur. Lumambo died on the spot after sustaining several shrapnel wounds on his head, face and chest, the police said. The blast also killed a certain Ramek Damo and Susana Damo, both close friend of Ka Jerry, who suffered several wounds and died on the spot. In the same incident, two other persons were wounded Babek Gais and Lumanpos Damo, both residents of Barangay Luanan, Lapuyan and both are now confined at the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Hospital for treatment. Initial police investigation disclosed that the victims under the influence of liquor were playing an apple type grenade while in the midst of a drinking spree when suddenly the safety pin was accidentally released triggering an explosion.
