The 5th Infantry Battalion is now activating 2 Civilian Active Auxiliaries to augment the operating CAFGUs units in Lanao Norte and Zamboanga del Sur-Misamis Occidental boundaries and a Special CAFGU Unit to watch and secure the National Transmission Corporation (TRANSCO) power transmission lines in the area.
In an interview with Lt. Col. Pablo M. Lorenzo, 5th IB Commanding Officer said that activation of the Special CAA’ or Special CAFGU Company is to answer imminent treats received by the National Transmission Company (TRANSCO) against their power and power towers which frequently destroyed by terrorism and pilferages. Meanwhile the two other CAFGU Units are to augment the operating capabilities of the civilian active auxiliaries in the whole 1st Division area of responsibility. He said. In another related development, with the cries and questions of the Civilian Active Auxiliaries of the salaries and benefits, the 5th Battalion Commander reiterates that after their database evaluation or the computerization program of the whole Armed forces of the Philippines, their salaries and benefits will surely came as to the regular force. “Yes sad to say that it is true that they (CAFGU’s) are asking about their salaries and other benefits, we in the AFP Hierarchy would like to apologize in this matter, this year alone we only give them their 4 months subsistence allowance, because as of this moment we are establishing the whole database of the Philippine Army and the CAFGU’ to be able to release them accordingly together with the regular force.” LTC Lorenzo said. “With the database, the Philippine Army conducted a an evaluation to all regular and non-regular member of the AFP to include the CAFGU’s . Said database are composed of personal evaluation and data’s to complete with their pictures and even signatures in their corresponding identification cards. This will be the basis now for the release of their subsistence allowance, of which this year they will increase by 60.00 pesos hopely.” He added.{sidebar id=9} Meanwhile the Special CAFGU units are now also activated to watch over the transmission lines of TRANSCO. It may be recalled that even with the regular forces securing the transmission lines of the National Transmission Company can not cope up with the treats, but with the establishing new units, especially on the hinterlands.
