THE FAMILY of Mrs. Lolita Molina, a BIR employee, who was shot dead by a lone gunman last week while on her way to office, is crying for justice and wants a speedy investigation of the gruesome killing.
The husband of the victim who asked for anonymity when interviewed by local reporters for security reasons said he strongly believes the death of his wife has something to do with her work in the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). He said Lolita performed sensitive duties and responsibilities because she heads the Document and Processing Division in the Bureau and part of her job is to keep all processed documents pertaining to taxation, including hot documents used in court proceedings. But when pressed to give further details regarding his impression, he refused to give a more detailed information saying the authorities must unveil the motive of the killing. He called on police investigators to speed up with the investigation so as to identify the triggerman that might also lead to the identity of the person who masterminded the killing. t may be recalled that on the early morning of May 9 (Friday), an unidentified gunman, who rode on the backseat of a motor cab where the victim was also on board shot the victim’s head and fled to an unknown direction. Police investigators disclosed that while the victim was on board a tricycle from her residence in Tuburan District upon reaching Pagadian Capitol College, an unidentified male also boarded the same tricycle and asked the driver to drop him at Sabellano Extension at the back of SMC main complex. Upon reaching the area and after paying his fare, the man shot the victim with a .45 caliber pistol. Responding policemen brought the victim to the Mendero Hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival by a physician. Police Chief Inspector Reynaldo Maclang, city police chief said they now have some lead as to the identity of the suspect based on statements gathered by his men. e added that they are conducting a thorough investigation to resolve as early as possible the killing as demanded by the relatives who are crying for a speedy investigation.
