The Sangguniang Panlalawigan here is likely to formulate legislative measures so as to secure ample supply of rice in the province so as to control rapid increase of commercial rice in the market while some traders heave rice outside the province.

The tri-media based in the city are also invited.

Last regular session, Board Member Ernesto Mondarte, in a privilege speech,  expressed alarm of the unreasonable price increase of rice in the market.  He observed that constant reports over television, radio and newspaper about the panic buying of NFA rice in Metro Manila triggered the unscrupulous rice retailers to jack up price of rice though their buying price was still low.

Moreover, SP wants NFA manager Ybañez to flood NFA rice in the market so that the lowly income consumers can buy the government-subsidized rice at P18.25 against the commercial rice is now ranging from P30 to 36 a kilo.

Likewise, the legislative body seeks explanation from the grain retailers as to abrupt increase of  price of commercial rice in the market when there is no rice shortage.

For the media side,  president of the Zamboanga del Sur-Pagadian City Press Club, Inc. (ZPPI) Elmer Maghanoy committed to attend the session so with Alejandro Gesta, manager of RMN-DXPR and provincial coordinator of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP).
