Long ago, traditional housewives in Dimataling may just simply end their day unproductive. Keeping their selves busy chatting with each other waiting for the sun to go down without even a single thing made to at least help their husband sustain their daily needs. As a result, many families remain poor. They are just contented with what they are and what they have. But this life's perspective of hopelessness has totally changed with the collaborative efforts exerted by the local officials of Dimataling ably headed by Mayor Haniel Baya.
{sidebar id=8}Sonny Butito, the Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer (MARO) of this town undeniably also contributed a lot and shared his expertise in community organizing that transcends Women's daily life from unproductive to more productive. This is now the birth of the group calling themselves as the Product Women's Association of Dimataling, according to MARO Sonny Butito in an interview. Butito said majority of the members came from the agrarian reform communities in the lowland area of Dimataling and they make money out of banana as the raw products and processed it into finished banana sticks. Dimataling now is the main supplier of BANANA STICK BRAND, a Dimataling pride delicacy that is now sold in different markets. “Housewives will now end each day with money earned out from banana sticks", Butito added as he also lauded the all out support from LGU Dimataling and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office. The housewives mindset of idleness was totally transformed and their day may seem to be incomplete without processing a piece of banana into a Banana Stick. "We give credit and salute these women in Dimataling for buying our idea for productivity", Butito said, also assuring that the DAR and LGU Dimataling will continue guiding these women.
