Byahe na Zambosur! As a backgrounder "Biyahe Na, I love Philippines Regional Showcase" is an annual exposition showcasing the tourism attractions of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region comprising of its provinces namely:  Zamboanga Del Norte, Zamboanga Del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay with its cities, Zamboanga, Pagadian, Dipolog, Dapitan, and Isabela City.

This year, Zamboanga Del Sur and Pagadian City serve as host for the 10 day tourism exposition in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 9. To maximize the impact of the province 55th Founding Year celebration on September 17, 2007, the Biyahe Na SA Zamboanga del Sur exposition will be held together with the province 5th Megayon Festival, A festival celebrating the unity of the tri-people of the province (The Subanens, the Muslims, and the Local Settlers (Christians)) 

Biyahe na sa Zamboanga del Sur is an opportunity for the province to promote its tourism potentials not only to the Zamboanga Peninsula region but the neighboring towns and cities as well as the whole country.

Said celebrations will focus on the launching of Balik Zamboanga Del Sur to cater all Zambosurians, especially those who are now abroad and other OFWs, Travel Exchange, the kick-off of Laag Sa Zamboanga del Sur for the neighboring communities and cities and provinces.

“The reinforcement of tourism initiatives of the Province highlights the setting up of the Provincial Government Complex Tourist Zone,” Governor Aurora E. Cerilles said.

In it is the Cultural Village that showcases the tri-people’s culture.  We have conceptualized the Flower Gardens to provide aesthetic impact upon the place.  The Adventure and Eco Camp that provides the Canopy walk and the Zip line, including the “Biyahe Na!” site for the municipalities to showcase their products for greater promotions. Hopefully next year, we shall reestablish the Provincial Museum in coordination with the National Museum.

The Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center which we intend to finish within the year is also situated in the same complex. As part of Medical Tourism, the hospital shall be furnished with state-of-the-art facilities that will cater improved medical and health services to the people of Zamboanga Del Sur and other neighboring localities and provinces.{sidebar id=9}

Cerilles emphasized that Zamboanga Del Sur, being the host of the “Biyahe Na Regional Showcase” has made its best in enhancing our tourism industry.  We are steadfastly working out the development of high standard sustainable tourism activities in the different areas of the Province.

As a matter of fact, she pointed out that her Administration is in the process of preparing Tour Packages for Mt. Timolan Protected Landscape, Guipos Cave and Resort, Lakewood Cruise, Scuba Diving in Tukuran, Bibilik and Tabina – dubbed as a world class dive site according to divers who have visited the place. Cerilles hopes that by September, the Tour Packages of these 4 Tourism destinations can be marketable, in time with the celebration of the Province’s 55th Anniversary at the same time hosting the Biyahe Na! Zambosur by September 17 to 26.

Panikian Island is another potential tourist destination found as the breeding ground for sea turtles. Triton Island of Vincenzo Sagun and many others are good tourism potentials that grant better access for product development and entrepreneurial activities.

This is just a glimpse of the Province’s SME Development initiatives. With all these, let us therefore harmonize our ends so that we can achieve a potent impact in the advancement of our local economy, as well as the growth and development of our beloved Province of Zamboanga del Sur.
