The Zamboanga del Sur Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has all the praises from Governor Auring E. Cerilles as it reports “zero” fire incident during the Fire Prevention month observation last March.

The lady governor commended the officers and men of the BFP throughout the province headed by Provincial Fire Marshall Gerson Sisona for doing their job well.  The same degree of appreciation she extended to the community for their cooperation and vigilance which prevented no blaze at all even in the municipalities.  Nevertheless, she appealed the people to remain watchful and extra careful so that no fire would ever occur throughout the year.

In observance of the Fire Prevention Month, Governor Cerilles directed her Chief Security Officer in cooperation with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office to come up a fire prevention campaign and fire drill. Eventually, a Capitol Employees Quick Response Team was created composed of 50 personnel who already undergone several trainings on survival and rescue operation.

Sisona, in his capacity as provincial fire marshall, issued certificates of commendation to all BFP men and women of Pagadian City, Molave, Aurora, Margosatubig and Dinas for their exemplary effort in preventing any conflagration.  “Our continuous campaign on fire prevention and awareness to the people has paid off,” Sisona claimed.

Moreover, he thanked the Almighty who is always behind this achievement.  Sisona admitted that as of the moment, fire trucks of Aurora and Margosatubig are both under repair and they cannot afford to fire incident in these areas.

In 2006 and 2007 of the same period, Sisona accounted two fire incidents each during the fire prevention month celebration.  Fortunately, this year, none ever happen which he actually forbids to happen.

Cerilles, as the mother of the province, upon serving her first term as Governor in 2001 has been requesting at least 5 brand fire trucks from the Department of Interior and Local Government.  Joey Lina was the DILG secretary at that time who promised her to give her request but up to now it remains to be seen.
