Pagadian Chief Of Police Reynaldo Maclang
Pagadian City – It has only been a month since Police Chief Inspector Reynaldo Maclang assumed the office of Chief of Police. Already, he has left an indelible mark among the barangays in the city in his efforts to reach out and get them involved in making and keeping our city safe. COP Maclang recognizes that crime fighting does not only involve going after criminals but winning the public's trust and confidence in Pagadian's Finest.

COP Maclang in his meetings with various organization emphasizes that there should be a close police-community involvement in preventing and solving crimes. In line to this, COP Maclang initiated the "Kaugnayan sa Barangay" to reach out to the grass roots. Barangay officials, Barangay Tanod, Lupong Tagapagpayapa as well as barangay women's organizations are invited in a dialogue or "Pulong-pulong".

Issues and concerns including citizen's arrests, Republic Act 9262 (an act against violence towards women and children), illegal drugs and gambling and other forms of crime and misdemeanors are discussed by COP Maclang and his men.

“This is now one of our priorities, to be closer to the people through constant communication and coordination. To have a police-community bond is one of the ways of knowing each other especially their problems and priorities that need our attention. Likewise, through the Kaugnayan sa Barangay we will be able to identify the strength of our vital installations here in our city and correct our weaknesses so we can have a stronger exercise of security”, COP Maclang told www.unsapa.com through this reporter.

“We are visiting some establishments and all our banks here so that we will be able to know our deficiencies especially on anti-bank robbery. I would like to give thanks to all the banks managers for the scheduled meetings including us as the main component in their meeting. Without the help of our community our accomplishments will not be that successful because the success of the community is the achievement of the Pagadian PNP and the people as a whole”, COP Maclang disclosed.

Some of the accomplishments since he assumed office was the arrest of suspects of illegal drugs, illegal recruitment and illegal firearms and all these were filed in court and the suspects were all detained.

When asked if he had experienced problems in filing cases in court, COP Maclang replied, “Not really, that is why I also have close coordination with the prosecution and the Judges. In our level we are just doing our part, our only policy in the PNP is that once a crime occurred and the suspects are arrested and a case is filed to the Public Prosecutor,it is now up to the prosecutors to evaluate the case. Once a case is filed in court we will monitor it and follow the progress of the case.”

COP Maclang assured the public that his office is open 24 hours and 7 days a week for any constructive criticism. “Let us help and get involved, be aware in maintaining peace and order in our community,” Maclang added.

As of date, COP Maclang have conducted "Kaugnayan sa Barangay" with four barangays. Featured in the photos above is Barangay Banale, as well as Barangays Balintawak, Tiguma and Kawit.

"I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the people for their support since I assumed office and I am proud and honored for giving me the command as your city police chief", COP Maclang said in parting.
