The fire originated at the house of Mr. Raul Araya and spread to the ten adjoining neighboring residential buildings. Most of the houses burned was on the left side of Mr. Araya's house which were constructed of light materials. A house on the right also burned, a two storey residential building constructed of semi-concrete at the left portion, City Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Clemente M. Alvarez said.

The houses razed by fire were owned by the following, Mr. Elizalde Lubaton, Mr. Raul Araya, Mr. Charlie Nicanor, Mr. Richard Sabio, Mrs. Pacita Malaque, Mr. Rodel Sabio, Mrs Rosalie Ruiz, Mr. Lito Belano, Mr. Rolando Aneciete, Mrs. Juanita Toledo and Mrs. Cristina Ramos.

The cause of fire is still under investigation. Although no one was reported injured, an estimated of more or less P600-thousand pesos in aggregate property was lost. The fire suppression operation lasted for about two hours. The fire was declared totally out at 7:30 in the evening.

Pagadian City Mayor Samuel S. Co told City Social Welfare and Development Officer Isagani Pagayao to conduct an evaluation to the extent of initial assistance like rice, nodles and sardines to the fire victims can be provided to the victims.
