Pagadian City – More or Less P70-million estimated property loss and more than 1-thousand vendors have their livelihood razed in a two-hour fire inside the Agora on April 26 at about 9:23 in the evening.
Rito Alconera, team leader of LGU Security Force detailed at Pagadian City Agora personally reported to the Fire Station that Agora was on fire. Upon the arrival of responding fire fighters headed by SFO2 Hisoler, Shift Commander, the area was illuminated by flames and a huge billowing smoke back dropped the whole area. The raging fire cannot be suppressed by the Pagadian City Fire Department units. Almost half of the vegetable section were already engulfed by fire, Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Clemente M. Alvarez said in his report to Mayor Sammy Co. Immediately, Fire Marshal Clemente seeks assistance thru a request with the Provincial fire Marshall for additional fire fighting engines to be sent to the area. Around 10:15 pm Dinas and Molave Municipal Fire Station fire engines arrived in the area to augment the Pagadian City Fire fighters, Clemente added.

Mr. Elmer Abanil, security guard assigned at the vegetable section building told Arson Investigators that the fire started in the middle center portion of the vegetable section area. It was learned that from the vegetable section the flame scattered towards the dry goods building and through the dried fish section building as well as towards the meat and rice section. More or less 10-stalls were partially burned at the rice and meat area and at the same time the fire escalated via the ceiling trusses of the fish section building. The fire was declared under control at around 11:20 in the evening of the same date and at around 6:00 early morning of April 27 2008, the situation was declared "fire out".
