 Fr. Giancarlo Bossi in a news photo Payao,Zamboanga Sibugay - An Italian Priest was kidnap Sunday morning in Bulwan, Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay. The victim was identified as Fr. Giancarlo Bossi, 57, from Milan, Italy and the Parish Priest of Payao.
The PNP report confirmed that Fr. Bossi was kidnapped by the Abu Sayaff operating under Abdusalam Akiddin, a.k.a. Commander Kiddie at around 9:35 a.m. in the said barangay. The incident occured when Fr. Bossi went to the town proper after celebrating mass at Bulwan, Payao. The alleged kidnappers were pinpointed by a ranking Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) leader and chief negotiator, Mohammad Iqbal.  Fr. Bossi As of presstime, the Military and PNP is now in hot pursuit of the kidnappers who had been spotted on board two(2) pumpboats moving towards Tungawan town. In another related development, Marine Maj. Gen Ben Mohhamad Dolorfino, commander of government's Adhoc Joint Action Group, insisted that the kidnappers of the parish priest of payao are members of the MILF Lost Command who frequents the area. However, AFP Chief General Hermogenes Esperon said, that the kidnapping will not affect the on-going peace negotations. He added that a joint operation of the 102 Brigade of the 1st Infantry Tabak Division based in Sanito,Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay is conducted in coordination with the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office in the search and rescue operation.
