Pagadian City - SPO4 Loy Panandigan Marcaban survived again last Friday at 8:35 in the morning after two assailant open fired at him in an ambush inside Agora Market, Pagadian City while he was driving his service pick-up in convoy to the vehicle of his cousin, Market Superintendent Coy Marcaban.
The victim sustained 4-gunshot wounds at his chest after the two killers approached his vehicle. One of assailants was wearing a white T-shirt with maong blazer, black baseball cap, slim in built who pulled out an unidentified short fire arm and shot the victim four times, the police report said. Police investigation said that the assailants fled on foot to an unknown direction after the incident. Recovered empty shells found in the crime scene were all of 9mm bullet casings prompting authorities to conclude that a 9MM pistol was used in the crime. The victim was rushed immediately to the Pagadian City Medical Center. Attending physicians found no vital organs were hit. However ,Marcaban was transfered to Iligan City for further medical attention. It was learned that the victim, SPO4 Loy Marcaban have already survived four assassination attempts making this attempt his fifth . Previous assassination attempts against SPO4 Loy Marcaban,PNP - On the first attempt, Marcaban was a victim of a grenade throwing at the former Rosman PlazaDepartment Store, now Pagadian Metro Shopping Center along Pajares Avenue fronting Gate 2 of the Agora Market. He suffered shrapnel wounds but he survived.
- Second attempt, again SPO4 Loy Marcaban was ambushed near the entrance gate (Gate 2) of the Agora Market, but the gunman was not able to fire his firearm. Marcaban survived.
- A year after, While he was in a rice -retailing store inside the Agora market, while performing his duties as a police officer, an unidentified assailant threw a grenade at him without regards of other people in the vicinity. Incredibly, SPO4 Marcaban was able to pickup the rolling grenade in the floor and threw it back to the direction of the suspect. The grenade exploded inflicting minor wounds to bystanders nearby Marcaban himself sustained slight injuries from the shrapnel. Again, Marcaban survives.
- On his fourth attempt, while inside his office at the PNP Agora Detachment a grenade was thrown at him. With him at that time were other police officers assigned at that detachment. Our hero, SPO4 Marcaban, again survived!
