 NBI Chief Tamayo (ext.left)Mondarte (ext. right) DXPR Dagomo (next to Mondarte) with suspects One dead, another one wounded and three others were arrested on a simultaneously conducted separate drug buy-bust operation by the joint forces of the National Bureau of Investigation led by Atty. Moises Tamayo and the 905th PNP Provincial Mobile Group headed by Police Senior Inspector Oscar Buenaobra last June 26 at Barangay Balimbingan, Labangan town, Zamboanga del Sur.
The operatives reported that at about 10:45 AM, they raided the residence of a certain Jimboy Maulana, who is a known drug pusher at Purok Tuburan, Barangay Balimbingan on the same town. Meanwhile, another team conducted a drug buy-bust operation at Purok Hiligaynon, Barangay Balimbingan where a certain Jerome Rancho Bation and Ting Tantong y Maulana who both engaged on a gun battle with the operatives. Rancho was killed on the spot while Tantong was brought to the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Hospital for medical treatment. Tantong is a resident of a Benuatan, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur. The operatives confiscated from Racho’s possession one plastic case with markings of 100, 200 and 500 containing 20 heat sealed sachets of shabu worth P200 each and another 25 pieces of the same content amounting to P500 each, one caliber .38 revolver with five live ammunitions, one fragmentation grenade, the marked money and 16 unused lighters. Also recovered from the scene was voluminous one-half sack of used implements/paraphernalia of shabu like foil gutters, used lighters and aluminum foil sniffing pipes. The team also arrested persons were temporarily detained at the Camp Abelon lock-up cell waiting for proper disposition while appropriate charges were being readied by investigators. On the other hand, both Tamayo and Buena bra were appreciative on the assistance of the civilians who informed them about the illegal activities that unscrupulous elements conduct in Barangay Balimbingan. “Malaki ang naitutulong ng mga civilian informants natin na nagbibigay ng mga information through text messages or sa pagpunta sa ating office. Dahil sa kanila ay dahan-dahan nating naso-solve ang problema sa droga ditto sa ating area of responsibility,” says Buenaobra. It may be recalled that the National Bureau of Investigation and the PNP has teamed up in most of the drug buy bust operations since Tamayo and Buenaobra headed the NBI Pagadian District Office and Provincial Intelligence Office/City PNP respectively.
