Pagadian City – A total of 81-thousand pesos worth of items was carted by thieves in a ransack incident at SolidMark located at the heart of the City along Rizal Avenue near corner F.S. Pajares Avenue on January 31, 2008.

The incident was discovered at 8:00 o’clock early morning when the security guard Nelson Rubin of the Golden Sun Security Agency together with employees were about to open the establishment.

“We were very surprised when we discovered the two padlocks of our rollup steel main door was already cut probably using a bolt cutter. The suspects were not able to enter because the glass main door was also padlocked and they can not open it. But when we went inside we discovered some items were missing and items were scattered everywhere,” The security guard told this writer.

The culprits were able to enter by passing through the air con at the manager's office by pushing the air conditioning unit from the outside going inside the office located at the alley beside the Best Emporium Bodega.

Discovered missing were five units of Magic Sing along worth P60-thousand pesos and cash amounting to 21 thousand pesos. The thieves were able to open the bolts by destroying using hard-object.

Pagadian City Police SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operatives) are investigating for the identification of some finger prints recovered from glass cabinets and other areas inside the establishment.

"This is the second time that the establishment was ransacked, the first time was on 2004 at Ariosa Street corner Jamisola Street where we were located then. SolidMark is at its present location since September 2007 last year. As of now we are also looking for a possible inside job angle," Branch Manager Maylyn Duquillo also told this writer.

With the probable use of bolt cutters, Pagadian businessmen can not sleep safe even with the use of expensive rollup doors. Probably these thieves were afraid the noise of breaking the glass doors will ensue what with security guards in nearby establishments which caused them to seek another point of entry. But what with other establishments that rely on this type of locks? Does this mean that having security guards is now a must?
