SPO1 Abner Kaya responded to investigate the report.
According to a reliable source, the said police officer caught up with the victim and a commotion ensued. The source added that Alfie Tac-an was able to grab the SPO1 Kaya's M-16 rifle and started to shoot the officer. However, SPO1 Kaya using his training, was able to recover his M-16 rifle.
Using his service pistol he shot Tac-an several times in very close range but incredibly, in a scene right out from fantasy movies, Tac-an who seemed to be hit several times was not a bit harmed. Instead, he was able to draw his sharp machete and struck at the police officer who parried using his rifle. Being in such close range, the police officer maneuvered to evade the thrust. Slightyly wounded, SPO1 Kaya run inside the Peoples Plaza department store whose doors are already closing due to the commotion. A certain bystander who is unknown as of press time, was hit by a stray bullet and was rushed to the Pagadian City Medical Center. It is unclear who was responsible for his shooting (picture left, victim inside the tricycle). Tac-an seeing this opportunity to escape, run towards San Pedro District but other responding police units came up and shot him dead in the vicinity of OBS Motor Parts along Ramon Magsaysay Avenue.
