A woman who lost her house in tears
Pagadian City – An estimated property damage roughly reaching up to Five Hundred Thousand pesos of 9 residential houses (shanties) razed by fire occurred at Purok Ilon-ilon, National Highway, near Tiguma Elementary School, Barangay Tiguma on February 15, 2008 at 2:40 in the afternoon.

Mrs. Dayang Gampong, the owner of the lot where these shanties were erected told Fire investigator F03 Virgilio S. Cabatit Jr. that the fire originated at the house occupied and rented by Mr. and Mrs. Allan and Lenlen Baobao, a bus conductor of Rural Transit, Inc.

The fire escalated to the next house occupied by Cerelito Isig, security guard and then gobbled the shanty of Mr. Agrillia. Due to strong winds, it further fed on the adjacent shanties rented by the following persons; Nalyn Basinillo, Zaida Datu Gumala Naka, Panes, Mete, Daki, and Pasol. The fire lasted for 2 hours, City Fire Mashal Clemente M. Alvarez of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) told this writer.

 

 

The victims were temporarily sheltered at Tiguma Elemtary School.Barangay. Chairman Malalis together with the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) extended initial assistance to the fire victims.
