 9th City Council then during the proclamation
 Vice Mayor Pulmones in his
welcome address, congratulated the re-elected members of the Sangguniang
Panglungsod and welcomed the new members, Hon. Arnold Gavenia, Hon. Wilson Co
and Hon. Beinvenido Culve.
Meanwhile, Mayor Samuel S. Co
expressed his thanks that all the members of the council are coming from his
political party line-up, the NPC-KAMPI.
“not like before during the 8th
City Council at the same time my first term as Mayor, I have only the Vice
Mayor and three Councilors coming from my political party but in spite of that
still we will be able to work closely, unite and cooperate for the development
of Pagadian City, and I would like to
express my heartfelt thanks to the 8th City Council for the all-out
supports because I never encounter any problem and thank you for helping my
administration,” 
“I have been a member of this August body
for two consecutive terms from the 6th and 7th Council
and I would like to tell you that I am very proud to be a member of this August
body. The part improvements of our city can not be done with-out the support
and approval of the City Council, I hope this time in the 9th
Council I will not encounter any problem, we can also work hand in hand as one
Political Party together with our new Congressman in the 1st
District of Zamboanga del Sur in the person of Victor Yu, together with the
support of the provincial government thru our Governor Auring Cerilles, we can
always expect that there will be more progress at the very front door on the
economy in the city,” Mayor Co said on his keynote address.
After the new members of the City
Council gave their Inaugural addresses, the 9th City Council
approved, Resolution No. 2007-0002 which
states that City Local Government Operations Officer, CLGOO James Yanes will
formally install Punong Barangay Sangcadra S. Dimasar as Ex-Officio member of
the City Council representing the Liga Ng Mga Barangay.
It may be recalled that Dimasar
was elected as Vice President of Liga Ng Mga Barangay last June 21, 2007 after
its President Bien Culve was elected as a regular member of the Pagadian City
Council last May 14, 2007 elections.
Dimasar assumed the position of Culve by succession to represent the Liga ng mga
Barangay City Federation in the City Council as ex-Officio member.
The 9th City Council
approved Three (3) more Resolutions, Resolution No.2007-0003, approving the nomination and election of the
chairmanship and membership of the different standing committees. Resolution No. 2007-0004, agreeing
in principle the election of the following officers of the 9th City
Council: Vice Mayor Romeo Pulmones, Presiding Officer; Councilor Romeo B. Tan,
Chairman Pro-Tempore; Councilor Arnulfo A. Garcia, Floor Leader; Councilor
Frank Jefferson L. Villegas, Assistant Floor Leader, and Resolution No. 2007-0005, giving authority
to the Vice Mayor to approve and sign all warrants drawn from the City General
Funds for the expenditures of the Offices of the Vice Mayor, the Sangguniang
Panglungsod, and the Secretary to the Sangguniang Panglunsod.
