Region IX's Youngest Mayor!

     "We have to go for the young, idealist, and vibrant leader to lead us," Dumalinao people said as the young Cerilles garnered a very large margin over his veteran opponent, who was considered as a seasoned politician in Dumalinao.

     Mayor Ace’s ticket KAMPI enjoyed a sweep victory that toppled down the aged Mayor in town with the full backing up of his parents who promised to have a face-lift of what is Dumalinao now into a progressive town just 10 kilometers away from Pagadian City.

     His becoming a Mayor at a very young age was no surprise to many. Surely, he inherited it from his roots beside his parents. His grandparents on the mother side were both politicians, they were: late Congressman Canuto MS Enerio and late Vice Governor Vicenta "Tintay" Enerio. Likewise, he is a grandson of former Assemblyman, Congressman and Governor Vicente "Alindahaw" Cerilles, in that order of Zamboanga del Sur during Marcos’ regime.

     As a local chief executive, Mayor Ace assured that Dumalinao is in good hands with his Vice Mayor Junetine Lanzaderas and eight Sangguniang Bayan Members who are in the same party, together they will bring a vibrant economy in Dumalinao.

     In a macro perspective, Mayor Ace also visualizes a progressive Zamboanga del Sur after a landslide victory of his parents’ party coalition – Nationalist People Coalition (NPC) and Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (KAMPI) from the Governor, Vice Governor, 10 board members, City Mayor, City Vice Mayor and 10 city councilors.

     Moreover, he said that this strong and united force is enhanced by 25 of 27 local chief executives of which he is a part player throughout the province who dominated in the recently concluded local elections.

A brand new politics

     Mayor Ace Cerilles was criticized by opponents as a very young candidate and not fitted for the position he aspires. 

     But his constituents believed that young leaders like him could bring Dumalinao back to where it should be.

     Guided by his political mission: "Bangon Dumalinao," the youngest Mayor in the region believes the transformation of a better Dumalinao should be felt by his constituents. 

     Equipped by the guidance of his parents, Mayor Ace believed that poverty should firstly be addressed to his people in Dumalinao by: (1) giving this opportunities that could augment family income; (2) providing quality medical services to the people; (3) establishment of pro-poor and quality education from elementary, high school and by linking with JH Cerilles State Colleges for the establishment of an extension campus in Barangay Rebokon; (4) prioritizing infrastructure development like building a gymnasium which could host big events; (5) ensures peace and order in Dumalinao to bring back peoples confidence; (6) foster understanding and peace between groups and tribes; (7) and priority to pro-environment related activities. 

     Having learned that Dumalinao has incurred P35-Million debt by his predecessor, Mayor Cerilles vows to find solution to it.
