After the May 14 polls, for the first time new mayors and vice mayors had emerged into the political arena under one party. While the re-elected ones who in one way or another had turned their backs from their original party affiliation and joined the ruling party NPC-KAMPI.
In the May14 2007 polls, reports said that there were massive cheating, harassment and even intimidation of candidates and their party mates including their political leaders. After the 45 day campaign, the people showed their response and voted for their leaders. Winners were proclaimed claiming the election was fair and the losers on the other hand claimed that they were cheated. As is usually the case in Philippine politics, losers cry their hearts out, "We were cheated". With the 26 municipalities and one city, Zamboanga del Sur is now waiting for the official oath-taking ceremonies that will happen on or before July 1, 2007, to be led by their choice leaders.
